Skagway is a city in south-eastern Alaska on the north end of Taiya Inlet on Lynn Canal, 2 1/2 hours by ferry or 90 air miles northwest of Juneau and 108 road miles south of Whitehorse, YT. Skagway is 15 miles by water and 359 miles by road from Haines. Skagway is the oldest incorporated city in Alaska (1900).
Attractions include riding the historic White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad, flightseeing tours to Glacier Bay, Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Reid Falls and flower gardens, Skagway Museum with photos and artifacts from Old Skaguay including a Tlingit canoe and a Portland Cutter sleigh, the Chilkoot Trail and Dyea Road to the old Dyea Townsite where the National Park Service offers daily walking tours in the summer, and a visitor center with exhibits and films on the history of the area and information on hiking the Chilkoot Trail.
